All newly hired employees must be trained and evaluated before he/she is assigned to operate a lift truck. Re-certification MUST be conducted at least once every three years.
There are many factors to determine when a forklift should be serviced, including type of lift truck, conditions, etc. A general guideline is every 250 hours of use or at the minimum 6 months if not enough hours are accrued.
There are several factors determining how long a lift trucks tires should last. These factors include the amount of use, conditions, driving habits of the operator, load weights, etc. Worn tires can cause a number of problems with a lift truck including making the transmission work harder. It is very important to check the lift truck tires frequently.
There are two main types of forklift tires, cushion and pneumatic. Cushion tires are mainly for indoor use and come in traction or smooth. Pneumatic tires come in either air or solid. Solid pneumatic tires are a solid rubber tire. Air tires are just that, air.
